Selección Batallé SA collaborates in the ANPSTAND Task Force Group in which select pig breeders, insemination centres and researchers work on a standard of semen quality for pig insemination centres in Spain, to enable unification of procedures and characteristics to be achieved in the doses produced. In Spain more than 10 and a half million insemination doses were performed in 2019 alone. The aim is for all of them to follow common standards that will improve competitiveness. Artificial insemination has many advantages, such as intense health control, rapid dissemination of genetic progress, optimisation of reproductive management and a reduction in the economic costs of farms. The benefits begin in the insemination centres and farms, which increase their competitiveness, and have an impact on the economic development of the rural areas in which they are located and, therefore, on the whole of society.
